The List

Although never a static list for more than a few weeks, I decided to give you all my current top ten men list:

"Top 10 Men: Those I Love But Will Never Love Me Back"

Number 1: Johnny Depp

All the other ranks tend to fluctuate but number 1 NEVER changes.
There is just no contest.

Number 2: Mr.Darcy of Pride and Prejudice (book)

I see a Keira Knightley trend happening...haha
I know the BBCColinFirth fans probably hate me for putting up THAT Mr.Darcy, but I own and have seen both versions and prefer Matthew as well as the newer film version. My pick though is not for either film's versions of Darcy, but the way I see the Mr.Darcy of my mind in reading the actual book. He is a perfect gentleman, distant and shy but so utterly in love with Elizabeth it is heartwrenchingly beautiful to behold.

Number 3: Howard Roark of The Fountainhead (book)

There is a film version of the book with Gary Cooper, but I have yet to see it. Also, Gary Cooper is not at all what I had in mind for the character of Howard while reading The Fountainhead, and therefore do not want to use his picture.
Howard Roark is pure and everything a man should be. He also rapes the love of his life and it's romantic...yeah...he can make rape romantic.

Number 4: Robert Downey Jr.

Ah RDJ! I feel he and Johnny are similar in that they can be both adorable and bad-ass at the same time. RDJ just seems so goddamn cool. Also I love reading his interviews because he's completely insane and makes little sense, but you just know he's brilliant. He and Johnny should be best friends, that is if the world doesn't implode with too much awesomeness in one place. Favorite movie of his by far is Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, go see it now! Iron Man obviously is dynamite as well. Ah! And how can I forgot Tropic Thunder! It's sad that he doesn't have a chance to win the Oscar (obviously going to be Heath) but I think his role in that movie is both really hilarious & important.

Number 5: Conan O'Brien

AKA the funniest man on the planet. Although he may be no Johnny Depp, his humor is so attractive to me. Also sidenote: I AM GOING TO LATE NIGHT ON FEBRUARY 16th! BE JEALOUS! I cannot wait, I think I've watched every single episode of late night for at least the last 3 years.

Number 6: Clive Owen

A beautiful, beautiful man. It was love at first sight when I first saw Closer, a film I now consider one of my favorites of all time.

Number 7: McDreamy of Grey's Anatomy

To make this clear, I do not mean Patrick Dempsey. I personally think Patrick Dempsey is a huge tool, but his character of Derek Shepherd is a wonderful, gorgeous man. I used to like McDreamy a lot better, but now that Merder is all stable and normal now his appeal has sort of lessened for me.

Number 8: Vampire Bill of True Blood

I have recently discovered the wonderly creepy show True Blood and therein found Vampire Bill. If Mr.Darcy was a vampire he would be Vampire Bill. Nuff said.

Number 9: Ned The Piemaker of Pushing Daisies

ADORABLE ADORABLE man & show (recently cancelled...ABC=thumbs down) The vulnerability and innocence of Lee Pace's character is so endearing and hard not to fall in love with him.

Number 10: Jack Driscoll of King Kong & kind of Adrien Brody himself

I loveee this character, maybe it's the playwrite thing. However I go back and forth on Adrien Brody in general though.

That's what the list looks like as of this moment. I guarantee in a few weeks it will be completely different...well all except number one :)

The Man Himself

Anyone who knows me at all is well aware of my borderline-crazy obsession with Johnny Depp. They know I think he is absolutely brilliant and that I admire him in every capacity (actor/father/human/all around gorgeous and inhumanely perfect person).

It therefore causes me much distress to hear news of his impending wedding to the lovely and talented Vanessa Paradis. As lovely and talented as she is, and how I only wish the best for Johnny, I can't help but be saddened by the idea of him getting married. This is probably just because it's going to force me to realize that he is never going to marry me...

Yeah I know how that sounds.
Crazy right?
I'm not even sure if I ever want to get married.
Clearly though - if Johnny Depp proposed to me I would most certainly not decline.

Anyway, I read this absolutely delightful interview with Anne Hathaway in which she talks about Johnny and her experience filming Alice in Wonderland (so excited for it!). I've seen over the years that everyone who ever works with Johnny seems to really respond to him, and they all seem to think he's wonderful (because he is). Anne is no different. She says: "Honestly, Johnny’s everything you’d want him to be, and more". Here's the link: http://www.thenational.ae/article/20090125/ART/290190419/-1/NEWS

Somehow knowing that he really is the most wonderful man in the world simultaneously breaks my hearts and fills it with joy. My heart breaks because I know that I may never even get to meet this man who I have spent years of my life absolutely smitten with. On the other hand, it is filled with joy because for some reason I love "spreading the joy of Johnny". I love when other people, who just perceive him as another pretty boy actor come to realize how much more than that he really is. For example: I convince my friends to watch movies like Ed Wood and Benny and Joon and afterwords feel delighted to be able to bring them into light and into the world of Johnny Depp brilliance.

I always go back and forth with which of his films is my ultimate favorite. I feel like a sell-out saying the Pirates films but the character of Jack Sparrow IS really really brilliant and sure to be known as an iconic role (and he is never more handsome). On the other hand I can never see Benny and Joon too many times, it's just pure joy on film. Then there's Once Upon a Time in Mexico, with one of my favorites of his many brilliant characters - Agent Sands. He's hilarious and wonderful and if you haven't seen it - see it immediately (actually that goes for any Johnny Depp movie you haven't seen). And Cry Baby! Don't get me started on Cry Baby! This was my first experience with Johnny Depp. I remember I saw it on VH1 and I must have been about 11 or so. I don't remember much about my experience viewing the film the first time, but I do remember thinking...."God! That person is beautiful! And hilarious! And even more ridiculously sexy in trying not to be."

I could write about Johnny for hours, but I'm going to stop here. I'll save more Johnny Depp love-ranting for another time.

Now I'm going to provide you with some of my favorite pictures of the man himself:

MY FAVORITE PICTURES of the most beautiful man in the world

I don't know what it was exactly, but I think he was so deliciously sexy at the Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End premiere in Disney.

God...Is he not the picture of the word "smoldering"?

And of course - he looked adorable and a half at the 2004 Academy Awards!

Ahhh he makes perfection look so easy

Okay I'm getting tired so I'm going to leave you with those pictures to drool over as much as you like.

i(lovemy)Tunes

Your taste in music.
It's a big deal.
Why? I don't really know.

All that matters is your own response to music. I love finding tunes that help me in some way or I feel like I really respond to.

For example, there are bands that just make me giddy and happy about life such as:

The Format

Weezer

Say Anything

The Beatles

And more mellow ones through which I can relate my own thoughts/musings/ideas/ problems to such as:

Death Cab for Cutie

Ingrid Michaelson

Meiko

The Postal Service

It's an amazing journey finding music that you love.
Don't let what's big at the moment dictate your music collection.
Like what you like, because you like it.

Improvise Adapt and Overcome

Why is flannel so goddamn comfortable?
And even better - attractive!
While home over winter break I scoured the stores and malls around me, and could find very little flannel for young women like myself. This was very depressing, for I desired most ardently to acquire some good winter flannel. In the end I was able to find two amazing flannel shirts in ... the little boys section of target! I purchased the shirts in large, and although the sleeves are short they look adorable rolled up three-quarter style.

Here they are, judge for yourself whether or not they are the cutest shirts on the planet...because I think they are. I got these two versions of the shirt:

Goes to show that sometimes it takes some creative thinking and searching to find the perfect article of clothing.
